Bogura government has been established in Bangladesh through the direct vote of the people, following what he described as the end of one and a half decades of fascist rule.
Speaking at the inauguration of the e-bail bond system at the District and Sessions Judge Court in Bogura, the Prime Minister said the people have regained their democratic and political rights after years of repression and exploitation. Strengthening Democratic Institutions: Rahman, who is also the chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, emphasized the need to ensure that no autocratic force can again undermine democracy in the country. "To achieve this, the government has taken steps to strengthen all constitutional institutions," he said. He added that coordination among the legislative, executive, and judicial branches is essential to ensure that citizens fully benefit from democratic rights.
Judiciary at the Center of Justice: Highlighting the importance of rule of law, Rahman said establishing justice is a key foundation of a modern state , ensuring social balance, equality, and rights of the citizen. Referring to Ziaur Rahman, he noted that the late president had initiated the independence of the judiciary, which was later weakened. He alleged that during the previous regime, the judiciary had been turned into a partisan institution, undermining justice despite the presence of formal legal structures.
E-Bail System to Reduce Harassment: The Prime Minister inaugurated the e-bail bond system in seven districts-Bogura, Jhenaidah, Jashore, Magura, Rajshahi, Natore, and Kushtia-aimed at modernizing judicial processes and reducing harassment for litigants. He said the digital system would ensure faster processing of bail documents, reducing delays and opportunities for corruption. "Previously, bail documents had to pass through multiple steps involving lawyers, police, and court staff, causing delays and inconvenience. Now, the process will be quicker and more transparent," he said.
Building Trust in the Judiciary: Rahman stressed that courts must become places of trust rather than fear, noting that public confidence in the justice system is essential to reducing mob violence and ensuring social stability. "If people believe they can get justice in courts without harassment, it will discourage extrajudicial actions," he said.
Commitment to Justice and Reform: The Prime Minister reiterated that the government is committed to establishing justice as a central pillar of governance, beyond merely ensuring the rule of law. "The rule of law is important, but justice is the ultimate goal," he said, adding that initiatives like the e-bail bond system are steps toward building a transparent, accountable, and efficient judiciary.
Prime Minister's spouse Zubaida Rahman and Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman, among others, were present on the occassion.
