A meeting of the Barishal District Development Coordination Committee was held on Sunday, June 21, at 10:00 am in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner's Office in Barishal.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Md. Khairul Alam Sumon, who emphasized the need for the swift implementation of ongoing development projects and making development activities more dynamic and effective.
Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner said delays in project implementation increase public suffering and prevent people from receiving the benefits of development initiatives on time. He noted that proper execution of district-level development projects plays a vital role in accelerating overall progress and stressed the importance of coordinated efforts to ensure the effective implementation of government development plans at the grassroots level.
He urged officials of the concerned departments to complete all ongoing projects within the stipulated timeframe. The Deputy Commissioner also highlighted the lack of separate restroom facilities for women in many government offices, stating that female employees often face difficulties as a result. He called for the establishment of hygienic and secure restroom facilities for women and suggested that government offices also provide guest rooms to ensure better services for visitors.
During the meeting, Civil Surgeon Dr. S.M. Monjur-E-Elahi presented the district’s measles situation and reported that 99.94 percent of the measles vaccination campaign had been completed. He said the vaccination program has played a significant role in preventing measles, resulting in fewer infections among children compared to previous years.
