Members of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party on duty at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport recovered and returned a lost handbag containing a passport, mobile phone, foreign currency, and important documents to its rightful owner.
The incident took place at around **12:55 am on Tuesday** at the airport's heavy luggage exit gate, where an outbound passenger accidentally left behind his handbag. The bag contained a passport, a mobile phone, US dollars, and other important documents.
On-duty Ansar member **Md Rais Uddin** spotted the unattended bag and immediately secured it for safekeeping. He then informed **Shift In-Charge PC Md Jamirul Islam** about the matter.
To locate the owner, an announcement was made through the airport's **Flight Information Display System (FIDS)**. At around **1:30 am**, the passenger came forward and reported the missing bag.
Airport security personnel verified the claimant’s identity by matching information from his passport, mobile phone, and other relevant details. Following the verification process, the bag and all its contents were returned intact to **Abdul Hakim Sarkar**, a resident of **Parulia village in Joypurhat Sadar Upazila**.
After recovering his belongings, Abdul Hakim Sarkar expressed relief and gratitude, thanking the Ansar personnel for their honesty, professionalism, and responsible conduct.
Officials said the incident reflects the commitment of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party members to maintaining security, integrity, and public service at the country's key installations, including airports and other important public facilities.
