A fire that broke out at Nawabpur Tower in the capital was brought under control through the swift response of Bangladesh Ansar personnel and the coordinated efforts of the Fire Service, preventing a major accident and extensive damage.
The incident occurred at around 8:30 pm on Monday when a fire reportedly originated from an air conditioner at an AB Bank branch on the second floor of the building due to an electrical short circuit.
Upon receiving the information, Shahbagh Thana Ansar-VDP Officer, PC Md Moktar Hossain, APC Shahin Mia, and other on-duty Ansar members rushed to the scene and immediately began initial firefighting efforts while informing the Fire Service.
Considering the seriousness of the situation, Ansar personnel used loudspeakers to alert people inside the building and nearby business establishments, assisted in evacuating occupants to safe locations, and managed crowds to ensure overall security.
Fire Service personnel later arrived at the scene and, with support from the Ansar members, conducted firefighting operations. The blaze was fully brought under control at around 9:00 pm.
According to Fire Service officials and local traders, the prompt action of the Ansar personnel at the early stage of the fire prevented it from spreading to adjacent shops and other parts of the building. They praised the Ansar members for their professionalism, courage, and sense of responsibility.
