Under the initiative of Bandarban Hill District Council, scholarships have been provided to meritorious and disadvantaged students of various educational institutions of the district.
Professor Thanjama Lusai, chairman of Bandarban Hill District Council, attended the scholarship distribution ceremony at noon on Sunday (July 5) at Bandarban Hill District Council auditorium and handed over scholarship money to 1,323 students studying in various schools, colleges and universities of the district.
Meanwhile Bandarban hill district chief executive officer Muhammad Nazrul Islam, executive officer Muhammad Abul Mansur, district council member Md. Nashir Uddin, officials of various levels of the Parishad and students of various educational institutions of the district were present.
During this time, 1 thousand 323 students studying in various schools, colleges and universities were given scholarships. The organizers said that in the 2nd phase, a total of 2,779 students have been distributed scholarships worth Tk 1.5 million and this initiative will continue in the future.
Speaking as the chief guest at the event, Chairman of the Hill District Council Professor Thanjama Lusai said that education is the main tool for the development of a nation. The hill district council has been providing regular scholarships to students to encourage them to study by removing the financial crisis.
He also said,The Hill District Council will continue such activities in the future to improve the quality of education in the hilly region and to stand by the meritorious students. Zilla Parishad Chairman Professor Thanjama Lusai called on local institutions to play a greater role in the education sector as well as the government.
