Fake nurse held by Ansars for newborn theft attempt in Shariatpur

A newborn baby was saved by the vigilance of a family who had come to the government hospital for treatment and the quick action of the Ansar members on duty. A fake nurse was arrested from a cabin in the old building of Shariatpur Sadar Hospital on Wednesday (15 July 2026) afternoon.

At around 1 pm, a woman named Sharmin Begum (26) wearing a white apron entered the cabin of a pregnant woman undergoing treatment in cabin number 2021 of the old building. She claimed to be a nurse and asked everyone except the mother and child to leave the room. When she became suspicious, the pregnant woman's husband Mintu Chowkidar started questioning her, Sharmin claimed to be a newly joined nurse, which later turned into a verbal altercation.

Sensing the situation, Ansar members on duty Md. Kawsar, Md. Azizul Haque and PC Md. Muslim Uddin immediately arrived there and arrested the fake nurse. Meanwhile, the real nurse of the hospital arrived and confirmed that the woman named Sharmin was not working there, she was a fake nurse.

The victim's family alleged that Sharmin was trying to enter the house in disguise and remove everyone with the intention of stealing the newborn baby. As per the instructions of the hospital authorities, the Ansar members handed over the arrested fake nurse to the Palang Police Station.

Bangladesh Ansar and Ansar members affiliated with the Village Defense Force are working to ensure the safety of doctors and service recipients in government hospitals of the country. In this incident in Shariatpur, the constant vigilance and devotion of the Ansar members saved a family from a major disaster.
