DU invites writings for July Uprising collection

Dhaka University administration has taken the initiative to publish a collection based on the historic July Uprising. This collection will include memoirs of July fighters, articles on the July Uprising, and July-centric programs of various departments and institutes. 

All concerned have been requested to send their writings and programs to the Director of Public Relations by July 27. Writings and programs can be sent to the email address du.yearlydiary@gmail.com in Bangla 12 points (SutonnyMJ font).

It is to be noted that a 5-member committee has already been formed with the Dean of the Faculty of Arts as the convener for the purpose of publishing this collection. The Registrar of the University will serve as the member-secretary of the committee. The members of the committee are the Convener of the Provost Standing Committee, the Proctor and the Director of the Public Relations Office.

Incidentally, a month-long program has been taken up at Dhaka University to celebrate the second anniversary of the historic July Uprising. As part of the program, a discussion titled “July, the Month of Mass Uprising and Liberation from Fascism” was held at the Sir A.F. Rahman Hall auditorium on the evening of July 17. 

Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Dr. Md. Abul Kalam Sarkar was the main discussant at the program. In this, the memories of July-August were recounted and documentary videos were shown. Sir A.F. Rahman Hall became free from terrorism on July 17, 2024.

Different halls are holding separate programs to celebrate the second anniversary of the historic July Uprising. These programs include - remembrance and discussion meetings, essay writing competitions, personal experience exchange, cultural programs, debate competitions, etc.

On this occasion, Haji Muhammad Muhsin Hall will publish a special collection titled “July Memoirs”. Besides, Shamsun Nahar Hall on July 26, Dr. Muhammad Shahidullah Hall and Fazlul Haque Muslim Hall on July 24/25, Rokeya Hall on July 30, Muktijoddha Ziaur Rahman Hall on July 25, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall on August 01-04, Bangladesh-Kuwait Friendship Hall on July 24, Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall on July 25, Amar Ekushey Hall on July 23-25, Bijoy Ekattor Hall on July 23, Nawab Faizunnesa Chowdhurani Student Hostel on July 22 and Dr. Qudrat-e-Khuda Hostel on August 05 will organize programs.
