Three suspected thieves were caught red-handed while allegedly stealing corrugated metal sheets from Mymensingh Jute Mills Limited following a swift operation by members of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party.
The incident took place at around 1:00 pm on Monday when on-duty Ansar member Md Lokman Mia noticed the suspects removing tin sheets from the factory's boundary wall. He immediately alerted fellow personnel, prompting APC Md Moniruzzaman and Ansar member Md Ripon Mia to launch a rapid response.
The team detained the three suspects identified as Md Jiarul, 21, Md Nijoy, 22, and Md Sharif Mia, 20 along with the stolen materials. Although the suspects were carrying sharp local weapons, including machetes, the Ansar members brought the situation under control and arrested them without any untoward incident.
The detained suspects were later handed over to police by the jute mill authorities for legal action.
The Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party said its members remain committed to protecting key installations and preventing theft, sabotage and other crimes through vigilance, professionalism and courage.
