Rajshahi-3 (Paba-Mohanpur) lawmaker Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon has called for stringent measures to curb drug trafficking, stop the sale of adulterated baby food, prevent illegal pond excavation, and maintain law and order in Mohanpur Upazila.
He made the remarks while addressing the monthly Law and Order Committee meeting held at the Mohanpur Upazila Parishad conference hall on Thursday (July 23). The meeting was chaired by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Fahima Binte Akhtar.
In his address, the MP described drugs as one of the greatest threats to society and the younger generation, stressing that drug dealers should receive no leniency and must be brought to justice. He also urged the authorities to conduct regular drives against the sale of adulterated baby food to ensure public health and consumer safety.
Milon further emphasized the promotion of sports, effective implementation of the Family Card and Agriculture Card programmes, installation of CCTV cameras at important locations to enhance public security, prevention of illegal pond excavation and fuel hoarding, and directed law enforcement agencies to take necessary steps to maintain a peaceful law and order situation.
