Members of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party arrested a suspected thief during an operation at Lina Paper Mills Ltd. in Rupganj, Narayanganj, recovering stolen goods worth around Tk25,000.
The suspect, identified as Babul Chandra Das, was caught red-handed on Saturday (1 August). Recovered items included 10 kg of iron rods, a printer, two designer lights and a survey stand. Authorities also seized a hammer and two shovels believed to have been used in the theft.
Ansar officials said two other members of the alleged theft ring managed to flee, and efforts are underway to apprehend them. The suspect, along with the recovered goods, seized equipment and an auto-rickshaw, was handed over to the local police for legal action.
Lina Paper Mills Ltd. praised the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party for its swift and professional response, saying the operation helped protect the company's valuable assets.
