DU undergraduate program admission application starts from November 11

The online application process for admission to the undergraduate program at Dhaka University for the 2026-2027 academic year will begin on November 11, 2026 at 12 noon. The online application process will end on November 25, 2026 at 11:59 pm. These decisions were taken at the General Admission Committee meeting held today, Sunday, August 2, 2026 at the Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban auditorium. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam presided over the meeting.

The meeting was attended by Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Abdus Salam, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Mohammad Almojaddidi Alfesani, Treasurer Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Convener of the Online Admission Committee, Deans of various faculties, Provosts of various halls, Chairmen of various departments, Directors of various institutes and concerned officials were present.

Admission tests for undergraduate programs will be held through 5 units in the academic year 2026-2027. The units are- 'Arts, Law and Social Sciences Unit', 'Science Unit', 'Business Education Unit', 'Fine Arts Unit' and 'IBA Unit'.

The meeting has fixed the schedule for admission tests for undergraduate programs in the academic year 2026-2027. According to the schedule, the admission test for the 'Arts, Law and Social Sciences Unit' will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2026, the admission test for the 'Science Unit' on Saturday, December 12, 2026, the admission test for the 'Business Education Unit' on Saturday, December 26, 2026, the admission test for the 'Fine Arts Unit' (General Knowledge and Drawing) on ​​Tuesday, December 22, 2026, and the admission test for the 'IBA Unit' on Saturday, December 5, 2026. 

The admission test for all units except the 'IBA Unit' will be held from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. The admission test for the 'IBA Unit' will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The admission test for the other 3 units except the 'Fine Arts Unit' and 'IBA Unit' will be held in 8 divisional cities including Dhaka. The divisional centers are Rajshahi University, Chittagong University, Barisal University, Khulna University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh and Begum Rokeya University.

In the meeting, it was decided to conduct 60 marks MCQ and 40 marks written test in the admission test of units other than Fine Arts Unit and IBA Unit. It was decided to conduct 40 marks MCQ and 60 marks drawing test in the examination of Fine Arts Unit. It was decided to conduct 70 marks MCQ and 30 marks descriptive test in the examination of IBA Unit. 30 minutes have been set for the MCQ test of Fine Arts Unit and 60 minutes for the drawing/written test. 90 minutes have been set for the MCQ test of IBA Unit and 30 minutes for the descriptive test.

45 minutes have been set for the MCQ test of other units and 45 minutes for the written test. Students will be evaluated on the basis of a total of 120 marks in the admission test. Out of this, 100 marks will be on the admission test and 20 marks will be on the results of Secondary/equivalent and Higher Secondary/equivalent examinations.

The minimum qualification of applicants seeking admission must be to pass Secondary/equivalent examinations from 2021 to 2024 and Higher Secondary/equivalent examinations of 2026.

For the ‘Science Unit’ (including the 4th subject), the sum of the GPA of the Secondary/equivalent and Higher Secondary/equivalent examinations must be at least 8 and separately 3.5. However, students of the Humanities and Commerce branches of the Higher Secondary and Madrasa Education Board can also apply for admission to this unit. In that case, the sum of the GPA obtained by the student in the Secondary and Higher Secondary or equivalent examinations (including the 4th subject) must be at least 7.5 and separately 3.0.

For the ‘Arts, Law and Social Sciences Unit’, the sum of the GPA obtained by the student in the Secondary and Higher Secondary or equivalent examinations (including the 4th subject) must be at least 7.5 and separately 3.0. However, students of the Science and Commerce branches of the Higher Secondary and Madrasa Education Board can also apply for admission to this unit. In that case, the sum of the GPA obtained by the student in the Secondary and Higher Secondary or equivalent examinations (including the 4th subject) must be at least 8.0 for the Science branch, at least 3.5 separately and at least 7.5 for the Commerce branch, at least 3.0 separately.

For the ‘Business Education Unit’, the sum of the two GPAs must be at least 7.5 and separately GPA 3.0. However, students of the science and humanities branches of the Higher Secondary and Madrasa Education Board can also apply for admission to this unit. In that case, the sum of the two GPAs obtained by the student in the Secondary and Higher Secondary or equivalent examinations (including the 4th subject) must be at least 8.0 for the science branch, at least 3.5 separately, and at least 7.5 for the humanities branch, at least 3.0 separately.

For the ‘Fine Arts Unit’, the sum of the two GPAs must be at least 6.5 and separately GPA 3.0.

The meeting decided to formulate a separate question paper for English medium students in the admission test for the science unit in the undergraduate program in the 2026-2027 academic year according to the curriculum.

The meeting decided to start the classes of the undergraduate program in the 2026-2027 academic year on March 28, 2027.
