Plantation and sapling distribution program has been held at Rowangchari Upazila of Bandarban District under the initiative of District Timber Traders Association. About eighteen thousand different species of fruit and forest tree seedlings have been distributed among the students and common farmers.
This program was organized on Monday (August 10) morning at U Sara Library premises of Rowangchhari Upazila.
General Secretary of Bandarban District Wood Traders Association. Under the chairmanship of senior vice-president Haji Abul Bashar under the chairmanship of Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Member of Parliament for seat number 300 Saching Pru Jerry was present as the chief guest.
The special guests were Rawangchari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Miz Tazmin Alam Tuli and Divisional Forest Officer Md. Taufiqul Islam.
Also present at this time were Divisional Forest Officer of Pulpwood Plantation Division Abu Yusuf, Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Ehsanul Haque, District BNP Joint Convenor Sa Shai Pru along with leaders of Wood Traders Association were present.
Speakers on the occasion said that massive plantation of trees is necessary to protect the balance of the environment, combat the effects of climate change and ensure a green and livable environment for the future generations. Not only should trees be planted, everyone should also play a responsible role in the care and preservation of planted trees.
They also said that forest and fruit trees are of immense importance in protecting the natural beauty and biodiversity of the hilly district of Bandarban. Apart from inculcating the habit of planting trees among the students, distribution of fruits and forest seedlings to the farmers will protect the environment on the one hand.On the other hand, farmers can also benefit economically.
