Ansar members detained a suspected drug user during a special operation at the Gopalpur Upazila Health Complex in Tangail and later handed him over to police for legal action.
The operation was conducted around 7pm on 9 August 2026 after drug use was reportedly observed frequently in abandoned buildings on the health complex premises.
The operation was led by Ansar PC Md Mofiz Uddin, along with Ansar members Md Jahangir Alam, Md Amirul Islam and Md Zakir Hossain. They detained the man from an abandoned building along with some suspected drugs.
The detainee was identified as Khademul Islam, son of the late Mahfuzur Rahman of Suti Palash village in Gopalpur.
The incident was immediately reported to the Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer. Following instructions from the hospital authorities, Gopalpur police were informed. Police later arrived at the scene and took the detainee into custody.
Hospital authorities thanked the Ansar members for their efforts and said such operations would continue to maintain security and a drug-free environment on the health complex premises.
Legal proceedings against the detainee are currently underway.
