Forty-eight rounds of pistol ammunition and a pistol magazine have been recovered from Hatirjheel Lake in Dhaka, with the help of an Ansar member.
The ammunition was found around noon on Tuesday beneath the Rajuk Hatirjheel project’s Mahanagar East Bridge.
An amateur diver, Md Selim, was searching the lake for valuables and other items when Ansar member Ripon, on duty nearby, noticed his activities. The diver later brought up objects resembling ammunition from underwater.
Upon examination, the items were identified as 48 rounds of pistol ammunition along with a magazine. The matter was immediately reported to the Hatirjheel Ansar camp.
Later, Ansar officials handed over the recovered ammunition and magazine to Hatirjheel Police Station.
Officials said the alertness of the Ansar member helped identify and recover the items from the lake.
