Sherpur Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Farida Yasmin inspected several fertilizer dealers’ warehouses in Sherpur Sadar on Sunday afternoon to ensure timely fertilizer supplies to farmers at government-fixed prices.
During the inspection, she checked fertilizer stocks, stock registers, distribution activities and storage conditions. She also emphasized ensuring transparent distribution and supplying fertilizer to farmers according to their demand and on time.
Officials from the Department of Agricultural Extension, the Sherpur Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer and other concerned officials were present.
The deputy commissioner instructed dealers and agricultural officials not to create any artificial shortage, charge prices above the government-set rates or harass farmers. She also directed them to maintain transparency in fertilizer storage and distribution.
The district administration said such monitoring activities will continue to ensure easy access to fertilizer for farmers and fair prices in the market.
