DU Population Sciences Holds Freshers’ Reception, Farewell

The Department of Population Sciences at the University of Dhaka organised a freshers’ reception and farewell ceremony on Wednesday at Professor Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium.

Department Chairman Prof Abu Hasanat Mohammad Kishwar Hossain chaired the programme, while University Grants Commission (UGC) member Prof Md Mehedi Hasan Khan attended as the chief guest.

Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Dr Mohammad Almozaddedi Alfechani, Dean of the Faculty of Arts Prof Dr Md Abul Kalam Sarkar, and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Prof Kazi Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman were present as special guests.

The department’s founding chairman, Prof Dr A.K.M. Nur-Un-Nabi, attended as the guest of honour.

Speakers congratulated the new students and urged them to uphold the university’s proud history and traditions. They stressed the importance of developing artificial intelligence and technological skills to remain competitive globally.

They also encouraged graduating students to apply the knowledge and experience gained at the university in their professional lives and contribute to building a prosperous Bangladesh.

Department Student Adviser Shafayat Sultan delivered the welcome address, while students Upoma Saha and Soumik Haque spoke on behalf of the newcomers, and Prapti Roy and Idris Ali shared their reflections as graduating students. Students Md Nafis Iqbal and Arnabi Pal Riya moderated the programme.
