The 21st Biennial General Meeting of the Asiatic Society of Bangladesh (ASB) was held on Saturday at the Auditorium of the Society. Professor Abul Monsur Muhammad Abu Musa, eminent educationist and linguist, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and inaugurated the 21st Biennial General Meeting of the Asiatic Society of Bangladesh. Professor Dr. Harun-or-Rashid, President of the Society, presided over the meeting. He appreciated the Society’s long-standing role in promoting scholarly research and preserving the country’s rich history and cultural heritage. At the meeting, the President announced the names of the newly elected Fellows of the Asiatic Society of Bangladesh. The following five distinguished personalities were declared Fellows of the Society: Professor Dr. Wakil Ahmed ( former Vice-Chancellor, National University; Professor Abul Monsur Md. Abu Musa, Professor (Retired), Department of Bangla, University of Dhaka; Dr. Zeenatun Nessa Tahmida Begum, Professor (Retired), Department of Botany, University of Dhaka; Professor Dr. M. Mufakharul Islam former Vice-Chancellor, National University; and Dr. A. K. M. Yaqub Ali,Professor Emeritus, Department of Islamic History & Culture, University of Rajshahi. The Secretary subsequently placed the proposed amendments to the Constitution of the Asiatic Society of Bangladesh (1995) before the meeting. He also presented the 21st Biennial Report of the Asiatic Society of Bangladesh for the term 2024–2025, highlighting the major activities, achievements, and developments of the Society during the reporting period. The General Secretary subsequently announced the newly elected ASB Council for the term 2026-2027. The Biennial Meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Secretary, followed by concluding remarks from the President. Members of the Society and invited guests attended the meeting.
