The University of Dhaka hosted a day-long career summit titled “Campus to Career” at Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall on Monday to help students prepare for professional life.
DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr Mohammad Almozzaddedi Alfezani inaugurated the summit as the chief guest.
The opening session was chaired by Professor Dr Aleya Begum, Provost of Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall. Assistant Resident Teachers Dr Fahima Akter and Afrin Rahman Mili also addressed the session, while Hall Students’ Union Vice-President Tasnim Akter Alif Nabila delivered the welcome speech. General Secretary Miftahul Jannat Rifat moderated the programme.
Speaking at the event, Professor Alfezani said women’s empowerment and advancement are crucial to the country’s socioeconomic development.
He noted that the number of female students at the University of Dhaka is increasing, describing the trend as a positive indicator of progress in women’s education.
Women face various challenges in the workplace, he said, urging female students to overcome such barriers with confidence and make effective use of their knowledge and skills.
He also encouraged students to take advantage of government opportunities and loan facilities available for higher education and entrepreneurship.
The DU administration will provide all possible support for the educational and professional development of female students, he added.
The summit featured discussions and training sessions on BCS and government job preparation, entering the corporate sector, CV writing, professional networking and online profiles, higher education abroad, scholarships, statements of purpose and admission tests.
Sessions also covered teaching and academic careers, introductory research skills and academic publishing, employment opportunities in private and international development organisations, fellowships, fieldwork and professional networking.
A special consultation session was also arranged to review students’ CVs and professional online profiles.
