Bangladesh Ambassador to Nepal Md Shafiquar Rahman has called for joint efforts to strengthen the presence of Bangladeshi brands such as Walton in international markets.
He said Walton is making significant contributions to Bangladesh’s high-tech industry by manufacturing internationally competitive technology products, reducing import dependence and saving foreign currency while also earning foreign exchange through exports.
The ambassador made the remarks as the chief guest at “Tushar Jatra,” a special event organised by Walton Plaza at The Soaltee, a five-star hotel in Kathmandu, Nepal, on Saturday (September 19, 2026).
Managing Director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC and Managing Partner of Walton Plaza SM Mahbubul Alam, Chairman of Thapa Business Group Pranil Thapa, Director Pranimesh Thapa and senior Walton officials attended the event.
Ambassador Shafiquar Rahman said Walton’s high-tech products are of high quality and that the company is building a strong position by competing with international brands in global markets.
“This is a matter of great pride for the people of Bangladesh,” he said.
He added that increased domestic production of high-tech products is helping reduce import dependence and save significant amounts of foreign currency. At the same time, Walton is earning foreign exchange by exporting technology products to different countries.
“Bangladeshi brands like Walton need to be promoted more extensively in international markets,” the ambassador said, adding that Bangladesh’s ambassadors stationed in different countries can contribute to expanding the global market for local brands through economic diplomacy.
SM Mahbubul Alam said Nepal is an important market for Walton and that the company is working to make internationally competitive technology products available to Nepali consumers at affordable prices.
He said Walton plans to further expand its operations in Nepal based on long-term relationships and mutual trust with local business partners.
“Walton is no longer just an electronics brand from Bangladesh. Our goal is to establish it as a strong global brand,” he said.
He added that the company is pursuing this goal through its own research and innovation, advanced manufacturing facilities and internationally competitive products.
Pranimesh Thapa, director of Thapa Business Group, said the group was proud to have been part of Walton’s journey in Nepal for more than eight years.
He said Thapa Business Group remains committed to expanding Walton’s presence across Nepal through innovative and quality products, while working to provide better services to customers and establish Walton as one of the country’s leading technology brands.
Walton Plaza Managing Director Md Rayhan provided officials with guidance on modern marketing and sales management at the event.
Deputy Managing Director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC Mofizur Rahman Zakir and Walton Plaza Head of Sales MM Nazmul Hasan also addressed the programme.
The event was moderated by Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC Senior Executive Director and actor Amin Khan. A video showcasing the Nepal tour, a raffle draw and a cultural programme were also held as part of the event.
