The government has decided to increase fares for long-route and metropolitan buses by 17 paisa per kilometre following a Tk20-per-litre hike in the prices of all types of petroleum fuel.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges on Tuesday, according to Jamuna TV.
The fare adjustment comes a day after the government raised petroleum fuel prices by Tk20 per litre.
The new rates are expected to affect passengers travelling on both intercity routes and metropolitan bus services.
Further details regarding the revised fares and when they will take effect are expected to be announced by the authorities.
