Prominent businessman Tanvir Hasan Milon has accused Detective Branch Sub-Inspector (DB SI) Biraj Das of accepting a large sum of money in exchange for issuing a false warrant against him in a land dispute case, according to a report of Dandi Barta.
According to sources, the dispute between Milon and his neighbor Jahangir Kabir Bhuiyan escalated when Jahangir filed a case against Milon in court last June. The case investigation was assigned to DB SI Biraj Das. Businessman Milon claims that the SI did not conduct any proper investigation into the matter. Instead, he allegedly issued a warrant against Milon while he was on Hajj pilgrimage. Milon alleges that this warrant was issued after Jahangir Kabir bribed the SI with a substantial amount of money.
“I have paid VAT against the SI and about Tk 50 lakh in income cum tax per year. Despite being a law-abiding citizen and taxpayer, I am being targeted unfairly,” Milon said. He hopes for a just and fair investigation into the case.
Investigations revealed that the extortion case filed against Milon was baseless. Milon is well known in Rupganj as a social worker and the president of a child care school, as well as a successful businessman. The allegations of bribery against DB SI Biraj Das have raised serious concerns about corruption within law enforcement. Milon is calling on higher authorities to ensure transparency and justice in the ongoing investigation.
