Allegations have emerged of an attack and attempted land grabbing involving Ashraful Ulum Madrasa, located adjacent to Raghunandanpur Housing Estate in Faridpur town.
According to the madrasa authorities, a group of 10-12 unidentified persons armed with local weapons forcibly entered the premises late at night on April 18 with the intention of seizing the land.
They allegedly vandalized walls of a building and looted materials including CCTV cameras, brick chips, tin fencing, and a signboard, causing an estimated loss of Tk 200,000.
Madrasa Principal Maulana Farid Ahmad stated that the disputed 14 percent land under Dag No. 1220 in Goalachamat Mouza is legally owned by the madrasa through purchase and donation.
During the incident, Assistant Principal Md. Bashir Ahmad (40) tried to resist the attackers but was chased. While attempting to flee, he fell unconscious and later became seriously ill.
He was rescued and taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment in the ICU.
The attackers fled after locals rushed to the scene, issuing threats before leaving.
A complaint was filed with Kotwali Police Station on April 19, and police visited the site the same night.
Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Shahidul Islam confirmed that the allegation is under investigation and legal action will be taken accordingly.
