The International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) has marked a significant step in advancing international academic collaboration through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Yunnan University (YNU) of China. The agreement was formally signed on 21 April 2026 following a bilateral meeting between the two institutions. The MoU was signed by Vice-Chancellor of IUBAT Professor Dr Abdur Rab and President of Yunnan University Professor Ma Wenhui on behalf of their respective institutions.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to strengthening cooperation in higher education through student and faculty exchange, joint research initiatives and innovation.
A major focus of the collaboration is the advancement of perennial rice research and the establishment of a dedicated research centre at IUBAT, which is expected to contribute to sustainable agricultural development. The Yunnan University delegation included President Professor Ma Wenhui; Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange Dr Wu Yun; Secretary-General of the Alumni Association Hu Jianfeng; Deputy Director of the Office of Science and Technology Division Professor Zhang Shilai; Vice-Dean of the Institute of International Relations Dr Luo Weiwei; Chinese language lecturer at the Confucius Institute at North South University Liu Wenli; and Chinese director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Dhaka Yang Hui.
