The Barisal City Corporation (BCC) Administrator has taken effective steps to resolve the long-standing dispute over the approval of building construction designs in Barisal city.
Following the government-made Building Construction Rules 1996, a total of 200 building designs submitted in 2024 and 2025 have been approved simultaneously and handed over to the customers. At a ceremony organized at the Auditorium building adjacent to the city's Shaheed Minar on Thursday, April 30 at 11 am, BCC Administrator Adv. Bilkis Akhter Jahan Shirin was present as the chief guest and handed over the approved designs. She herself handed over the designs to about 40 customers present at the time.
Which was seen as a reflection of transparency and sincerity in the service process. At the ceremony, the BCC Administrator said that it is our commitment to reduce the suffering of the city residents and make receiving services easy, fast and transparent.
By approving the designs that have been piling up for a long time, we have taken a step forward in implementing that goal. He also said that building construction in accordance with the rules is very important to ensure planned urbanization and BCC will take a strict stand in this regard.
BCC Chief Executive Officer Md. Rezaul Bari, Secretary Rumpa Sikder, Chief Revenue Officer Raihan Uz Zaman, Executive Engineer Maksumul Hakim Reza, Architect Md. Saidur Rahman Lusan and other officials were present at the event.
According to those concerned, this initiative to approve a large number of designs at once will not only remove stagnation, but also inject new momentum into urban development activities. Besides, it will also have a positive impact on establishing rules and regulations in building construction and improving the quality of citizen services.
