Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said that the government has already started implementing the commitments made to the people, despite being in office for a short period.

Speaking at a civic gathering in the Chandni Ghat area of Sylhet on Saturday, he compared the current government to a two-and-a-half-month-old child, saying that just as a newborn needs time before learning to walk, the government also requires time to fully deliver results.

The programme was held on the occasion of the inauguration of a waterlogging mitigation project implemented by the Sylhet City Corporation.

The prime minister said, “We had made several promises to the people before coming to office, and we have already started working to fulfil those commitments.”

He also reiterated key election pledges, including the introduction of family cards to support women’s economic empowerment and farmer cards to assist agricultural workers. He added that special attention would be given to developing young talent in sports and other sectors to help nurture the country’s future generation. The event was attended by local representatives, party leaders, and senior officials.
