Ten more children have died across the country due to measles and measles-like symptoms in the last 24 hours until 8:00 am on Sunday.
The figures were disclosed by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in a press release issued on Sunday.
Among the deceased, one was confirmed to have measles, while the remaining nine showed measles-like symptoms.
With the latest fatalities, the total number of deaths from measles-like symptoms has risen to 244 between March 15 and May 3. During the same period, confirmed measles cases have accounted for 50 deaths, bringing the combined death toll from measles and related symptoms to 294.
The DGHS further reported that 1,166 new suspected measles cases and 95 newly confirmed cases were recorded in the past 24 hours.
Since March 15, a total of 27,816 patients with measles-like symptoms have been admitted to hospitals nationwide. Of them, 24,090 patients have recovered and been discharged after receiving treatment.
