The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has announced that the price of a 12kg Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinder will remain unchanged at Tk 1,940 for the month of May. The new price schedule comes into effect from 6:00 PM today, Sunday. The decision to keep prices steady follows a turbulent April where rates were adjusted twice.
On April 2, the price of a 12kg cylinder was initially increased by Tk 387, bringing it to Tk 1,728. Later, on April 19, BERC raised the price again by Tk 212, setting the final rate at Tk 1,940, which has now been carried over into May.
While LPG cylinder prices remained static, the price of Autogas has seen a slight upward adjustment. For the month of May, the price of Autogas has been increased by 2 paisa per liter. The new retail price, including VAT, is now set at Tk 89.52 per liter, up from the previous Tk 89.50.
Similar to LPG, Autogas prices were also adjusted twice last month. On April 2, the price was hiked by Tk 17.94 to Tk 79.77 per liter, followed by a further increase of Tk 9.73 on April 19, reaching Tk 89.50.
The regulatory body periodically adjusts these prices based on the international market value of Saudi CP (Contract Price) and fluctuations in the foreign exchange rate.
