Heavy to moderate rainfall has lashed Bangladesh’s northeastern region over the past 24 hours, pushing water levels above danger marks at eight points across seven rivers in three haor districts. According to the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre, data recorded at 9:00am on Monday shows significant rainfall, including 74 mm in Netrokona’s Jariajanjail and Habiganj Sadar, and 61 mm in Chandpur-Bagan area. make a short headline In Sunamganj, the Noljur River at Jagannathpur has risen 40 cm above the danger level. In Netrokona, several rivers including the Dhan-Baulai, Someshwari, Bhugai-Kangsha, and Mogra are flowing above danger levels at different points, despite slight decreases in some locations. Meanwhile, in Habiganj, the Kalni River at Ajmiriganj and the Sutang River near the railway bridge have also crossed danger levels, with the latter flowing as much as 83 cm above the threshold. The warning centre said water levels in Sunamganj’s haor rivers are rising slowly, at a rate of 0–1 cm per hour.
