Six children have died with measles and measles-like symptoms, while 1,186 new suspected infections were reported across the country in the 24 hours until 8:00am Tuesday, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.
Among the deaths, two were laboratory-confirmed measles cases, while four were classified as suspected. The suspected fatalities were reported from Dhaka and Sylhet divisions.
With the latest figures, the total number of confirmed measles deaths has risen to 54, while suspected deaths have reached 263 since March 15.
During the same period, 259 new confirmed cases were recorded, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 5,726. Meanwhile, the total number of suspected cases has climbed to 42,979.
DGHS data also shows that 29,831 suspected patients have been hospitalized so far, with 26,368 already recovered.
