Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has called upon his party's grassroots leadership to spearhead a "new struggle" to implement the government's election manifesto.
Speaking as the chief guest at a high-level views-exchange meeting at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) on Saturday, the Prime Minister emphasized that the government's success is intrinsically tied to the active cooperation and coordination of the party’s rank and file.
Transitioning from Movement to Governance
The Prime Minister framed the current political phase as a transition from the struggle against autocracy to the challenge of national development.
A "New Battle": "One battle has ended; now another has begun—to implement the commitments we made to the people," the PM stated.
The People’s Manifesto: He noted that the 13th parliamentary election, held on February 12, validated the BNP's platform, with 52% of the electorate voting in favor. "The manifesto is no longer just the BNP's; it is now the manifesto of the government and the people," he added.
Key Policy Priorities
Tarique Rahman reiterated the core pillars of his administration’s agenda, urging Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal, and other wings to uphold these values:
Good Governance: Ensuring a state free from political repression, enforced disappearances, and extrajudicial killings.
Democratic Space: Fostering an environment where citizens can debate and express opinions freely.
Social Safety: Guaranteeing a healthy educational environment and safety for all citizens, regardless of gender.
"If the BNP does not cooperate, the government will not be able to succeed in many cases," the PM cautioned, highlighting the need for party-government synergy.
High-Level Attendance
The meeting, held under the banner 'Sobar Agee Bangladesh' (Bangladesh First), was chaired by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi. High-profile attendees included:
Special Guest: Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
Standing Committee Members: Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Abdul Moyeen Khan, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, and others.
This event marks the first formal consultation between the Prime Minister and the party's grassroots since the formation of the new government following the February elections.
