The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 has sent former Begum Rokeya University Vice-Chancellor Md Hasibur Rashid to jail in connection with the killing of student Abu Sayed during the July Mass Uprising.
According to prosecutors, Rashid was earlier sentenced in absentia to 10 years in prison on April 9, 2026. He was arrested by Mohammadpur Police and produced before the tribunal, which ordered his imprisonment under the conviction warrant.
The tribunal had also sentenced two former policemen to death and 28 others to different jail terms in the same crimes-against-humanity case.
