A three-day agricultural fair has begun in Magura under the Sustainable Agricultural Extension Project for the Jessore region.
The fair was inaugurated at 11:00 am on Monday on the premises of Magura Sadar Upazila Parishad, organized by the Department of Agricultural Extension, Magura.
Administrator of Magura Municipality Imtiaz Hossain inaugurated the fair as the chief guest.
A discussion meeting was also held on the occasion, chaired by Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Meherunnahar.
Special guests included Senior Joint Convener of Magura District BNP Akhtar Hossain and Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Masud Rana.
Speakers at the event said agriculture plays a vital role in Bangladesh's economic development. They noted that the districts of the Jessore region contribute significantly to agricultural production, including rice, jute, wheat, mustard, vegetables and spices, meeting local demand and supporting exports abroad.
Different stalls at the fair are displaying various crops and vegetables produced by local farmers. The fair will conclude on Wednesday.
