08 (eight) projects worth Tk 2,266 crore approved in ECNEC meeting

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) today approved 08 projects costing Tk 2,266 crore 41 lakh. Of this, the government's own financing is Tk 2,229 crore 13 lakh and the organization's own financing is Tk 37 crore 28 lakh. The approval was given at the ECNEC meeting held today at the Cabinet (Room No. 100, 10th Floor, Building No. 1) Bangladesh Secretariat Room under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister and ECNEC Chairperson Mr. Tarique Rahman. Out of these, 03 new projects, 03 revised projects and 02 extension projects.

Minister for Finance and Planning Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury; Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir; Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmud; Agriculture, Fisheries and Livestock Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid; Industries, Textiles and Jute and Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir; Road Transport and Bridges, Railways and Shipping Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam; Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain; Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed; Housing and Public Works Minister Zakaria Taher; Land Minister Md. Mizanur Rahman Minu; Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr. A.N.M. Ehsanul Haque Milon; Water Resources Minister Md. Shahiduddin Chowdhury Annie; State Minister for Public Administration and Food Md. Abdul Bari; State Minister for Planning Md. Jonayed Abdur Rahim Saki and other senior government officials participated in the meeting. The projects approved in today's meeting are: 01 project of the Ministry of Water Resources, "Maintenance and Rehabilitation of Barisal Irrigation Project (Phase 1)". 01 project of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, "Upgrading of Anwara-Baanshkhali-Taitong-Pekua-Badarkhali-Chakaria (Eidmoni) (R-170) Regional Highway (Kalabibir Dighi to Eidmoni) to proper standard and width" project. 01 project of the Ministry of Public Administration, "Addition of lifts to circuit houses and deputy commissioner's offices in 33 districts of Bangladesh, Thakurgaon" project. 01 project of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, "Bangladesh Children's Hospital and Institute Expansion Project-2" project. 01 project of the Ministry of Defense "Construction of Cancer Center at Dhaka CMH (2nd Phase) (1st Amendment)" project. 02 projects of the Ministry of Education (1) “Madrasa Education Management and Information System (MEMIS) Support (3rd Amendment)” project (2) “Establishment of Multimedia Classrooms in 653 Madrasas of the Country (3rd Amendment)” project. 01 project of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, “Enhancement of Capacity of Existing Grid Substations and Transmission Lines (1st Amendment)” project has been approved.

The meeting was informed about 06 projects with a cost of less than Tk 50 crore already approved by the Honorable Planning Minister. They are: 1. Water Supply and Sanitation Project in 30 Municipalities of Bangladesh (2nd Amendment) Project 2. Traffic Congestion Relief through Waste Removal and Management, Collection of Modern Vehicles and Machinery Used for Road Repair and Establishment of Mechanized Parking in the Affiliated Areas of Dhaka South City Corporation (2nd Amendment) Project (3) Citizen Expansion and accessibility of existing postal services at the periphery; (4) Expansion of infrastructure facilities of Dhaka Cantonment MES Training Cell Project (5) Accelerating Action to End Child Marriage in Bangladesh (Phase-II) Project (6) Establishment of Paikgachha Agricultural College, Khulna (2nd Amendment) Project.
