The monthly Law and Order Committee meeting was held in Mohanpur Upazila of Rajshahi on Tuesday (June 30) at 11:00 AM in the Upazila Parishad conference hall, organized by the Upazila Administration.
The meeting was chaired by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Fahima Binte Akhtar.
Among those present were Mohanpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Mizanur Rahman, Residential Medical Officer of Mohanpur Upazila Health Complex Dr. Md. Rakibul Islam, Social Services Officer Imam Hasan Shamim, Traffic Inspector Rabiul Islam, Ansar and VDP Officer Rabiul Islam, Fire Service Sub-Officer Rafiqul Islam, Village Court Representative Mukti Begum, Panel Chairman of Dhurail Union Parishad Md. Jahangir Alam, Panel Chairman of Ghasigram Union Parishad Aminul Islam, Panel Chairman of Jahanabad Union Parishad Abdur Rashid, Principal of Mohanpur Tamirul Millat Alim Madrasa Maulana Md. Shariful Islam, General Secretary of Mohanpur Model Press Club Md. Shahin Sagor, General Secretary of Kendrio Press Club Muttakin Alam Sohel, along with officials from various government departments and local representatives.
The meeting discussed measures to control drug abuse and trafficking, prevent child marriage, conduct mobile courts to improve road discipline, form anti-drug committees in every union, socially boycott drug dealers and addicts, raise public awareness to prevent social unrest, regulate the reckless movement of Mahindra (local three-wheeler) vehicles, and other important issues.
The UNO emphasized coordinated efforts among all relevant departments to maintain law and order and urged the prompt implementation of the decisions taken at the meeting.
Later, at around 12:00 PM, a meeting of the Upazila Committee for Monitoring the Implementation of the Right to Information Act was held at the same venue with the support of The Carter Center. Community Mobilizer Md. Enzamul Haque, Upazila Facilitator Monika Rani, and Abdul Barik Sarkar were present at the meeting.
