A week-long tree plantation drive and tree fair were inaugurated in Gopalganj with the theme “Beautify the country with tree plantation, Bangladesh first”.
On Sunday (July 26) at 11 am, Dr. KM Babar, Member of Parliament for Gopalganj-02 constituency, inaugurated the tree fair by cutting the ribbon at the municipal park in Gopalganj city.
Earlier in the morning, a discussion meeting was held on this occasion in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner "Swachhta". Dr. KM Babar MP was present as the chief guest in the discussion meeting held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner and learned District Magistrate Md. Arif-uz-Zaman.
District Police Superintendent Md. Habibullah and Faridpur Divisional Forest Officer Md. Tariqul Islam were present as special guests.
Officers of various government and private departments, political figures and students of various educational institutions, along with the youth head and volunteers of the Red Crescent Society were present at the time.
The speakers in the meeting spoke about the various importance of tree plantation in protecting the environment and biodiversity. At the end of the meeting, all the invited guests including Member of Parliament Dr. KM Babar distributed saplings of various types of forest, fruit and medicinal plants among the students.
It is worth noting that 22 stalls have been opened in the tree fair this year. Each stall will be open from 10 am to 10 pm. It will be open until 8 p.m. The organizing authorities have said that the fair will continue until August 1.
