Free wheelchairs and other aids have been distributed to people with different types of disabilities under the initiative of the National Handicapped Development Foundation under the Ministry of Social Welfare in Magura.
On Saturday at 10 a.m. in the office premises of the Deputy Commissioner under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Abdullah Al Mahmud, Member of Parliament for Magura 1 Constituency Manowar Hossain Khan was present as the chief guest and distributed these wheelchairs.
Magura Zilla Parishad Administrator Ali Ahmed, Additional Superintendent of Police Dipankar Ghosh, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Marun Nahar, Deputy Director of District Social Service Office Md. Zahidul Alam and others were present as special guests on the program.
A total of 35 wheelchairs, 3 tricycles, 2 walkers, 1 elbow crutch, 1 auxiliary crutch and 1 hearing aid were distributed at this time.
In the speech of the chief guest, Manowar Hossain Khan said that the government has taken various activities to help disabled people. Besides, he urged the wealthy and conscious people of the society to stand by the helpless disabled people from their respective positions.
The program was jointly organized by the District Administration and Handicapped Service and Help Center Magura.
