A family gathering was held in Gopalganj to highlight the government's development initiatives among the public, organized by the District Information Office. The event took place on Monday morning at the Holy Catholic Church in Muksudpur upazila, aiming to present the development activities outlined in the current government's election manifesto. The program was chaired by District Information Officer Md. Sulaiman. Director General of the Department of Mass Communication, Dhaka, Md. Abdul Jalil, joined the event virtually as the chief guest. Special guests included Father David Ghorami, President of the Managing Committee of the Holy Catholic Church; Sister Luds Mary, Head Teacher of Michael's Junior High School; Assistant Head Teacher Premananda Haldar; and Assistant Father Oliver Alok Biswas. Speakers at the event highlighted the importance of such initiatives in raising awareness about government development programs.
In his speech, Chief Guest Abdul Jalil said that since coming to power, the government has been working to implement its election manifesto. He noted that Family Cards and Farmer Cards have already been introduced and will gradually be expanded nationwide. District Information Officer Md. Sulaiman said in his speech that the Farmer Card program has already been launched and will be implemented across the country. He urged people not to engage in any financial transactions to obtain these cards.
He also emphasized the importance of tree plantation for environmental protection, noting that the government has undertaken a program to plant 250 million trees over five years.
Additionally, he informed attendees about the ongoing measles vaccination campaign. After the discussion session, awareness videos on government services and initiatives-including Family Cards, Farmer Cards, women's transport facilities, and tree plantation programs-were screened for the participants.
