Khulna Metropolitan BNP President Advocate SM Shafiqul Alam Mona has formally assumed charge as the Chairman of Khulna Development Authority (KDA).
After assuming charge today (June 16), Tuesday, he expressed his firm determination to develop Khulna as a modern, planned, livable and attractive city.
On the occasion of assuming the responsibility, he said, "Khulna will be arranged in such a way that the people of this city can live in peace and comfort and can breathe deeply in a healthy and pure environment. Development activities will be carried out with utmost importance to the expectations and needs of the citizens.
The newly appointed chairman further said that he will work with the aim of turning Khulna into a model city through urban development, environmental conservation, construction of modern infrastructure, planned housing and implementation of various public welfare projects. For this, he also mentioned that he will give importance to the opinions of urban planners, concerned experts, public representatives and ordinary citizens.
He expressed his gratitude to the Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman and said that he will fulfill this important responsibility entrusted to him with honesty, dedication and accountability. At the same time, he sought the sincere cooperation, valuable advice and prayers of the people of Khulna.
It is known that Advocate SM Shafiqul Alam Mona is currently serving as the President of Khulna Metropolitan BNP. Long After 28 years, he officially took charge as the first civilian to be appointed as the chairman of the Khulna Development Authority. Earlier, Brigadier General Mohammad Jahangir Hossain served in this position.
Khulna Development Authority (KDA) has been responsible for implementing various development projects and master plans including planned urbanization, housing development, road infrastructure construction, waterlogging relief in Khulna metropolis and its surrounding areas.
According to those concerned, under the new leadership, KDA's activities will gain more momentum and new horizons will be opened for the overall development of Khulna through the implementation of citizen-friendly plans.
Khulna City Corporation Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju, Khulna Zilla Parishad Administrator Monirul Hasan Bappi, Khulna Metropolitan BNP General Secretary and BCB Director Shafiqul Alam Tuhin and local socio-political figures were present at the event.
