On the occasion of World Environment Day-2026, a Jhiri cleaning program was held in Bandarban's Kashem Para area to protect the environment, ensure safe water and increase public awareness.

Bandarban World Vision Senior Manager Ashish Kumar Halder, World Vision Technical Specialist M. A. Aziz, Tulu Marma, Program Manager of GRAUS, Sonia Akhtar and Samira Akhtar Shireen, Group Leader of YDSB.
For a long time, due to various types of waste and pollution, the use of Jhiri water in the area was becoming unusable. Many local families collect water for their daily needs from the well next to the Jhiri. As a result, the pollution of Jhiri was also adversely affecting the quality of well water, which became a concern for public health.
In this context, YDSB took initiatives to clean the water sources of the area and to ensure a healthy environment. Under the programme, volunteers remove various types of garbage and waste from Jhiri and its surrounding areas. Besides, awareness campaigns are conducted among the local people about the importance of environmental cleanliness, water source conservation and safe water use.
In this program organized on the occasion of World Environment Day, the participants went inside the Jhiri and conducted cleaning activities. Later, everyone took part in a group photo by pledging to protect the environment. This program held in the midst of green forest and natural environment has a great response among the locals.

With their sincere cooperation and active participation, the program becomes more successful and fruitful. This joint initiative of youth from various organizations has set a shining example of social responsibility and partnership in environmental conservation.

Such activities will inculcate a sense of responsibility among the local people and play an important role in creating a healthy, safe and clean environment. They expressed hope that such integrated initiatives will continue to protect the environment and public health in the future.
