While performing their duty to ensure safe, transparent and broker-free medical services to patients and service recipients, members of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force have arrested a member of a broker gang at the National Chest Disease Institute and Hospital.
On Wednesday (July 22), at approximately 12:30 pm, Platoon Commander (PC) Mohammad Hasan, who was on patrol duty at the National Chest Disease Institute and Hospital under Tejgaon Police Station of Dhaka Metropolitan Ansar (DMA) West Zone, noticed that a person was trying to take hospital patients and their relatives to a private diagnostic center outside the hospital by tempting them to get a quick pathology test.
When the matter seemed suspicious, he immediately conducted a raid along with Assistant Platoon Commander (APC) Aminul Islam and arrested the member of the broker gang red-handed. The name of the arrested person is Md. Zahirul Islam (39).
Later, he was handed over to the hospital authorities. During interrogation, he admitted to being involved in brokerage in the hospital area and gave a confessional statement that he would never get involved in such activities in the hospital premises in the future.
To protect patients and relatives visiting the hospital from fraud, financial exploitation and harassment by the brokers, members of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force have been conducting regular patrols, surveillance and preventive activities while being on alert at all times.
Their relentless responsibility is playing an important role in making the hospital service environment safer, more orderly and people-friendly.
