A two-day residential training workshop on climate change adaptation concluded successfully with the participation of teachers, youth, and students from Mirsharai and Sitakunda upazilas.
The training was held on May 3-4 at the YPSA-HRDC campus in Sitakunda, organized by the Department of Environment (DoE) under the project titled "Integrating Climate Change Adaptation into Sustainable Development Pathways of Bangladesh."
A total of 40 participants took part in the workshop, which aimed to raise awareness, enhance knowledge, and build local capacity to address climate change-related risks.
The sessions covered a range of practical topics, including basic concepts of climate change and adaptation, local adaptation planning, climate-smart agriculture, youth engagement in green initiatives, inclusive climate action, and youth leadership and advocacy.
Md. Khaled Hossain, Director of the Department of Environment and Project Director, attended the inaugural session as the Chief Guest. Jamir Uddin, Director of the Department of Environment (Chattogram Region), was present as the Special Guest.
The training sessions were facilitated by Project Manager Pankaj Paul, Admin Associate Ariful Islam Shah, and Training Consultants Amir Hamza, Samsun Nahar, and Jubair Islam. District Coordinator Md. Wahid Hossain oversaw overall coordination and communication for the program.
Organizers expressed optimism that such initiatives will empower local youth with the skills and knowledge needed to actively address climate challenges, contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
