GAU concludes e-GP and VAT management training for officials

Gazipur Agricultural University has successfully concluded a five-day training program on ‘Bangladesh e-Government Procurement (e-GP) system, tax and VAT deduction’ aimed at strengthening transparent, efficient and technology-driven administrative practices.

Organized by the university’s Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the training was held from 14–18 May 2026 at the IQAC Seminar Hall, with participation from 32 officers representing various departments and offices of the university. The opening and closing sessions were attended by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. GKM Mustafizur Rahman as chief guest. 

Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. M. Moynul Haque and Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Safiul Islam Afrad were present as special guests. The program was chaired by IQAC Director Professor Dr. Nasrin Akter Ivy and moderated by Director of Student Welfare and Additional Director of IQAC Professor Dr. Mohammad Sharif Raihan. 

The training featured hands-on sessions on public procurement management, financial compliance and digital administrative practices. Resource persons included Senior Procurement Specialist Md. Abdul Aziz and Senior Financial Management Specialist, HEAT project, UGC Md. Monsuruzzaman Khan. 

Participants received practical training on major amendments to the Public Procurement Rules (PPR), open tendering, direct procurement methods, Request for Quotation (RFQ), e-GP operations, registration procedures, Annual Procurement Plan (APP) preparation and tender evaluation. 

Sessions on tax and VAT deduction procedures, financial accountability and compliance management were also conducted. Interactive question-and-answer sessions, evaluation tests and distribution of public procurement law and regulation books added depth to the program. 

Certificates were awarded to participants at the closing ceremony. Speaking at the event, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. GKM Mustafizur Rahman stressed the importance of building skilled, technology-oriented human resources to ensure transparency, accountability and efficiency in university administration. He said such training initiatives would play a vital role in strengthening professional capacity and institutional good governance.
