A training workshop on nutrition for pregnant and lactating mothers and sensitive and responsive care for children from birth to two years was held in Chitalmari Upazila of Bagerhat on Thursday.
The workshop was organized at the Upazila Parishad auditorium by the Mother and Child Support Program and the Office of the Upazila Women’s Affairs Officer, Chitalmari, with support from the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and the National Development Programme (NDP). Members of the Union Resource Pool took part in the event.
At the beginning of the program, Upazila Women’s Affairs Officer Md. Hafizur Rahman and NDP Upazila Coordinator Mithun Kumar delivered introductory speeches. A session introducing the Mother and Child Support Program was also held.
Upazila Executive Officer Khadija Akhter attended the event as the chief guest and formally inaugurated the workshop. Upazila BNP Acting President Ahsan Habib Thandu also spoke on the occasion.
Shikha Karmakar served as the refresher trainer of the Mother and Child Support Program. Monitoring Officer Md. Abdul Latif and Upazila Family Planning Officer Md. Rubel Sheikh conducted training sessions on maternal nutrition and sensitive and responsive childcare practices.
The day-long workshop focused on maternal health, child nutrition, mental development of children, and raising family-based awareness. Upazila Executive Officer Khadija Akhter delivered the closing speech at the end of the program.
