Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) has witnessed renewed momentum in strengthening law and order, combating drug trafficking and juvenile gangs, and improving public services under the leadership of Police Commissioner Mohammad Faizul Kabir.
Since assuming office, Commissioner Kabir has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against drugs, juvenile gangs, terrorism, and organized crime. Following his directives, RMP has been conducting regular special operations across different parts of Rajshahi city.
According to RMP sources, these operations have resulted in the seizure of significant quantities of illegal narcotics and the arrest of numerous drug dealers and suspects wanted in various criminal cases. Law enforcement agencies have also intensified raids on long-identified drug hotspots throughout the metropolitan area.
Alongside crime control, the commissioner has placed strong emphasis on improving citizen services at police stations. A series of measures have been introduced to ensure respectful and humane treatment of visitors, prompt registration of complaints, timely legal assistance, and a harassment-free environment for service seekers. Surveillance has also been strengthened to eliminate the influence of middlemen within police stations.
To ensure swift responses to public grievances, citizens have been given the opportunity to communicate directly with the Police Commissioner. Complaints received through social media platforms or mobile phone are immediately forwarded to the concerned officers with instructions for prompt action. Officials say the initiative has generated a positive response among city residents.
Beyond administrative responsibilities, Commissioner Kabir has also gained recognition for his humanitarian efforts. His support for underprivileged, distressed, and vulnerable people during times of need has earned appreciation from different sections of society.
Within the police force, he has prioritized professionalism, discipline, and accountability. Allegations of negligence, corruption, or misconduct are investigated, and departmental action is taken where necessary. Police personnel have also been instructed to uphold integrity, improve service standards, and maintain a people-friendly approach while performing their duties.
RMP has further strengthened community policing by holding regular meetings with local residents, business leaders, students, and representatives of different professions. These initiatives aim to build stronger trust and cooperation between the police and the public.
According to people familiar with these initiatives, the emphasis on service-oriented policing alongside strict crime control has contributed to increasing public confidence in the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police. They believe the ongoing efforts to establish a modern, citizen-friendly policing system will continue in the days ahead.
Speaking about his priorities, RMP Police Commissioner Mohammad Faizul Kabir said, "My primary goal is to build a safe city through zero tolerance against drugs, establish a people-friendly police administration, and ensure hassle-free police services for every citizen."
