Rajshahi, Bangladesh: Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) personnel arrested four suspected mobile phone thieves and recovered six stolen mobile phones during separate operations at Rajshahi Medical College (Rajshahi) Hospital on Wednesday.
At around 6:00 a.m., on-duty Ansar members caught Mosammat Jannatul Khatun, 22, allegedly stealing a mobile phone from the bag of a patient's relative in the hospital's Modern Labour Complex Kidney Department.
Following complaints from patients' attendants, Ansar personnel conducted separate raids in the hospital's Ward No. 49 (Female Medicine) and Ward No. 28 (Gynecology), where they arrested three more suspects: Md. Sohel Rana, 18, Md. Raihan, 30, and Sree Rinku Kumar Pal, 30.
During searches, the team recovered a total of six mobile phones, including two smartphones and four feature phones.
The suspects, along with the recovered phones, were handed over to the hospital police outpost for legal action.
The operation was carried out by Platoon Commander (PC) Md. Mainul Islam and Ansar members Md. Bulbul and Md. Sajib Ali.
Bangladesh Ansar and VDP said its integrated Ansar personnel continue to conduct regular patrols, surveillance, and special operations at government hospitals across the country to prevent theft, broker activities, and other crimes while ensuring the safety of patients and visitors.
