Rampal’s Maitree Super Thermal Power Plant, operated by Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company Limited, has set a new national milestone in electricity generation.
In April, the plant produced 760 million units of power, accounting for over 9 percent of the country’s total electricity output, according to company officials.
Managing Director Ramanath Pujari said the near full-capacity operation during peak demand highlights both the plant’s strong design and the dedication of its workforce, calling it a successful example of bilateral cooperation.
The facility is now largely operated by skilled Bangladeshi engineers who were trained under experts from National Thermal Power Corporation. While NTPC continues to provide advisory support, the day-to-day management by local engineers marks significant progress in Bangladesh’s technical capability development.
